Pilots Manage Traffic with CEACT AIS Channel CPA Meeting Point feature
Pilots can now manage the meeting point area of an approaching vessel from miles away using the built in AIS Channel CPA feature.  A simple two mouse click feature allows pilots to determine the Channel CPA of an approaching vessel. The Channel CPA feature improves ‘Channel Network Efficiency’ because pilots can negotiate slight changes in speed from miles away, instead of coming to a complete stop.

 

Pilots who can see the prediction can steer more efficiently
Over Steer produces lateral movement at the back of the tow which reduces the vessel's forward speed. Towboats spend approximately 75% of the time going upstream burning significant amounts of fuel. When the Prediction is used to reduce over steer the improvement in speed not only reduces the amount of fuel per ton mile, it also increases the total efficiency of the vessel. Vessel efficiency improvements between five and ten percent can be expected when pilots use the CEACT course prediction.

CEACT uses the very powerful, IMO compliant ECDIS Kernel EC2007 from 7Cs.
